Thursday pala ngayon. Wala kong pang #tbt.

Bukod sa anti-bullying policy-making collaborative work na ginagawa ngayon, kino-consolidate ko yung data about the kiddielets' Post Test Oral/Silent level of reading skills both in English and Filipino. Pwede na pala tong throwback kasi nung ginawa ko yung Pre-Test nung June, merong 2 boys and 2 girls na total non-reader, 3 girls at 3 boys na independent readers, the rest nahahati sa frustrated at instructional readers. Out of 51 kids.

Heterogenously mixed kids- may advanced talaga, may average at behind talaga.

Sa level nila ngayon, they should be reading to learn at tapos na sa stage ng learning to read. Andami-dami pang dapat matutunan at pag-aralan. Isang buwan na lang. Di ko daw pala sila pwede i-bagsak, nakakabasa na kasi at merong mass promotion na nagaganap dahil sa mga pagbabago sa sistema, no one should be left behind daw. Even if mas kawawa sila sa susunod na baitang, no one should be left behind daw.

  1. Talagang may line up from readers to non readers, titser na titser ang dating. Sa iskul ko nga, we start at 3, but it is never required for them to be fluent reader at 5, mostly exposure though I have children leaving my class able to read simple books.

So nakikita mo na ngayon ang fruit of your labour, congratulations and keep up the good work. Alam mo kung mahal ka ng mga kiddies, magaaral yung mga iyon for you. Tandaan mo yan.

    1. It is a yearly thing teachers do. The Phil. Informal Reading Inventory, both pre and post to see the changes and leveling up of the kids kung meron man. Sad to say, since it is time-consuming and nakakaantok most of the times, yung iba, nilalagay na lang reader na lahat kahit hindi pa.

Pero ayun, sana nga mahal din nila ko, enough to inspire them to study hard....

    1. maraming factors kumbakit delayed ang learning ng mga bata minsan since unplanned ang conception sa kanila, there were really parents who admit on taking pills while having the baby, malaking factor nga naman yun sa brain development. Dahil failed ang miscarriage, syempre pag pinangana si baby, di pa ready si parents, kulang sa nurturing si anak.. and then the chain of irresponsibility continues, main recepient si anak. There are even parents na sa first day of school mo lang makikita, ni sa kuhaan ng card, wala na.. Kasi they see school as an escape from the responsibility. What hurts the most, is a lot of people, blame teachers kumbakit hindi pa din marunong ang mga bata.

Go Cher!

    1. Cher Jep, di mako-cover ng Ms. Magic powers kong gawin silang Independent readers by the end of March :( Kung pwede lang talaga. Merong curriculum to catch up with, NAT, at truancy ng mga kids... Kung pwede lang talaga.. WE can only hope for follow-through activities when they step into grade 4.

  4. Go go go, Teacher Yccos! That's an improvement and you deserve a big pat on the back.

Oh, how I wish kids discover the joys of reading. I pity those who haven't discovered what reading offers. A prayer to them is in order.

    1. Many thanks FSOQ :)
Thats part of the plan after all this NAT buzz is over. More reading activities and art-based projects for them. Trying to find ways for them to appreciate reading and how to take care of books. Our room is filled with 3 sets of different encyclopedias, story books and other learning stuff--donations from all over.... kaso lang since they dont know the value of each, nasisira pa nila yung mga books dahil nag-aagawan. Pero I like it when I see them, flip through the pages, look at the pictures kahit hindi nila mabasa.... Push pa rin. Hopefully, I can post more stories, about them..

  7. All you need is a biggie cat hugs from me to take away those frustrations you are feeling right now.

    *cat hugs*

Feeling better now Cher Kat? hihihi :))

Although I'm not in the same field like you, pero I believe part na talaga ng propesyon mo yan. More patience pa!

    Cheers!

  8. I just salute you for devoting your time and talent in molding young kids. Despite the fact that you very well know the mounting challenges one has to face in teaching, yet, you're there not only proving that you can influence a change in them but loving the profession of course.
