Crush on the Bus

I can’t remember the last time I had this much intense “kilig” feeling. So intense that I feel like I am high school teenager again. Feeling so shy yet so giddy whenever I get to see my “crush”. The immediately noticed him the first time I saw him get on that morning bus. He is what I can call my “tall, dark and handsome” kind of guy. He had clean cut hair with a little bit of facial hair that looks good on him. He seem to have Indian/Middle Eastern features, with deep set eyes, squared-jaw and pointed nose. I can’t help but notice these things on his face as I get to do a few glances towards him every time we get to ride the same bus. He would usually sit or stand where I would have a chance to take a good look at him He looks like Wes Gibbins of How To Get Away With Murder aka Alfred Enoch. He looks really so pogi on his well-pressed, gray, long-sleeve polo tucked in slacks trousers, leather belt, dark socks and dark brown leather shoes. As if he never sweats. He looks so ...

That Rainy Thursday

“Kat, thank you ha.” I was confused. “Ha, bat ka nagte-thank you? Eh kinumusta ko lang naman ang demo nyo? Gusto ko rin sana mag-stay kaso I promised na papasok ako ng half-day.” I told her, as I am about to close the call. “Thank you kasi andami mong naitulong sa mga classmates natin. Tsaka, naiinspire kasi ako sayo. Nakakatuwa kang kasama at natututo kami sayo.” “Nye, wala yun. The least I can do. Mas masaya kasi kapag magkakasama pa rin tayo til the last step.” I said. “Sige, ba-bye na. See you this coming weekend!” *End button* pressed. I smiled. This conversation had been something I will always remember. It was rainy Thursday. The video demo-teaching was pushed and we all have to go to the agency for the taping. After the exam that Sunday, I had the Monday-Wednesday to prepare for this next step. I promised one of my classmates that I will help her with her demo piece. I was asking her all sorts of questions about how she wants her topic to be executed but she never...

The Day I Stopped Being Fearless

My life has been somewhat routinely for the past 3 years I think or maybe a few more months added to that. The “See Your Memories” option in Facebook reminded me of so many good times-- of mountains I had climbed, of places I had explored, of people I had met once and never again, of people I had cut ties with, of so many fearless moments, of that person I had once loved so much. Being surrounded with so many wonderful people can make me realize how small and incapable I can be. It sets that insecurity within. After so many failures and rejections, self-doubt would eat me up. It’s tiring and it’s painful. So much comparison with others had also crippled me a few times. Then fear starts to set in, I can never do it coz I am not that person. I used to be bold and fearless. I used to have so much confidence that I can do things and reach many heights. But now, all that belief in myself seem to have faded away.  Right now, I like the feeling of calmness and repetitiveness my...

Sunday's Test

Tick tock. Tick tock. Tick tock.  A few more hours to go before I take the Japanese Language Proficiency Test!  Four months ago, I had decided to dedicate my weekend, my time, my funds to learning this new language for a bigger, brighter and more "okane" future. Haha. And on Sunday, just like many hopefuls, I will take the exam as part of my ticket to the Land of the Rising Sun.  My study habits weren't really that serious @_@ I had only given so much time for studies the past two weeks, but before that, it was just usually a bit of reading, translation, sentence-pattern familiarization, watching J-dramas and a little bit of goofing around with the kids in school.  Most of the people who know me, knows that I will be taking the exam and are all very supportive. My parents and siblings would even take time to visit me on Sunday nights or on Skype. One of my co-teachers offered her time and Nihonggo skills to teach me for the past four days! She tutored me most of the ...

What I Am Thinking When I Am Walking

Image
With lost hours on waiting and on the road, I decided to change a few things with my daily travel schedule. In the morning, instead of catching the 7:20AM trip, I decided to take the 6:30AM trip, adjusting my wake up time to 5AM. I reach the vicinity very early, I get off the bus stop, 3 blocks away from my school, so I can have a morning walk. Every day, I pass by the same landmarks, yet I still get amaze looking at the same things every day. I wish I can just walk my way to work every day. I mean, no more commuting involved at all. I can't help but smile whenever I get to see a rainbow.  As I walk, I think about what I will do for the day. What I’ll do as soon as I reach my workstation. Which folders to pull out from the files, which worksheets to print, ask my buddy how to execute a lesson, which props and pictures to work on. Before I get right into the doorstep of the school, it’s as if, I had a picture of how my day will go. ...
