Just Another Countdown

I wonder how my parents really felt on that day that I was born. On a very early Sunday morning of the 17 th of August, in one rented house, I was born. Third in order, first-born girl in a family of six siblings. Today didn't go as planned, we were supposed to have dinner someplace but I opted to have it cancelled due to the inclement weather. I pictured it to be a great family gathering, my older brother arrived from Abu Dhabi for a 1-week vacation, and my other siblings work within the vicinity, my parents, my cousin and my tito and tita would all be there. None of that happened. Just because I am scared that we will all be stranded at the mall if ever the heavy rains fall. I just decided to buy take-out from a famous Chinese restaurant with which my mother loves the nanking beef and the stir-fried noodles. Kuya met me at the mall, saying that he needed to buy something for Papa’s printer. He also offered to buy me a birthday present which I accepted without any sec...

2AM

It is not the best time to suddenly wake up at around 1am with the steady sound of the fan and the raindrops outside. It's cold. So cold that the first feeling I can think of is sadness. Gone is fear. It all boiled down to sadness. How can I stop feeling this way? All I want to do is sleep so I can get on with my day vigorously the following day. How can I go back to sleep? I wanna forget hearing the sound of the rain getting louder and louder. posted from Bloggeroid

How do you revive “faith”?

How do you revive “faith”? A friend asked me this as the parting question for our conversation, saying, he has become sort of "faithless" at the moment.  It was an automatic answer for me to say.. “… my family brought me back to it.” Backslider-- the term used for people who used to be a church member but suddenly ceased to go to church, support ministry and who ever had decided to turn their back away from the Christ-like way of life. I used to be one though I can’t still consider myself as a full-pledged Christian at the moment. Every time I get to recall the things I had done in the past, I can only wish for the earth to swallow me. I have gone beyond the borders of failed expectations and had given into temptations a lot of times before. Well, I still do, every now and then. Today’s sermon was entitled Divine Discipline. It talks about how God’s ways of “chastening” aka challenges in life as a result of our worldly actions, should be embraced as a Christi...

Stop Chasing

Image
Whatever is being chased, tends to run away. I remember reading this somewhere. This is very true with kids, if they see any attempts or signs of being chased, they tend to run away and escape. The chickens and chicks here at home, if they feel any sign of movement towards them, they tend to run away. The past few days, weeks, months and years had been restless. Oh well, my entire adulting process is a restless process I might say. It’s about time to slow down and smell the roses. As I close my book of 20s in the next few days, I am taking time to look back and collect all those things I had gathered in this decade. From that baccalaureate degree which equated to landing a job, being a little bit of “financially capable” of handling myself, to meeting new people, learning about people and about myself from other people, to exploring places, feelings and emotions, to constant realigning of focus and dreams, to constant reminder of what’s important, to extending of blessings, to tryin...
